Certain research indicates that people are able to be fat and fit all at the same time. The research equated the definition of fit with being healthy. In other words, it found that people could be obese but still have healthy cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure levels. In my opinion, I believe that health reasons are just one of the components of fitness. A conclusion should not be used unless the following 5 components of fitness are addressed.

1) Cardiovascular Activity and Endurance

Cardio helps improve the function of your lungs, heart, and vascular system. Cardiovascular activity is defines as any activity that lasts for longer than 90 seconds. HIIT training regimens would qualify as cardio, as would more basic aerobic exercise regimens.

2) Muscle Strength

Muscle strength involves the amount of force that a muscle can exert in one try. A proper strength training routine helps to build muscular strength. This is an anaerobic activity.

3. Muscular Endurance

The muscle’s ability to complete a series of anaerobic activities is the measure of that muscle’s endurance. Usually, the movement is performed for under a minute and a half because if it goes over, it will fall under the aerobic category.

4) Range Of Motion

Elasticity refers to the ability to have full motion of all of your joints. Being flexible helps a person to avoid injuries, maintain youthful posture and retain greater strength.

5. Body Composition

Body composition consists of your relative percentages of muscle, bone, and water vs. the amount of body fat. The majority of research on being overweight examines whether or not a large amount of fat will cause any number of adverse health conditions.

Each of the 5 components of fitness is important, but it is their combination with each other that gives a truer picture of an individual’s level of fitness. For example, your body composition can affect your cardiovascular endurance or muscular strength. This is why it is so crucial not to separate out elements when it comes to physical fitness. All components must be taken into consideration for a clear picture.

It could be feasible to be fat and fit at the same time, but working out more is only going to make you healthier. By combining the five components of fitness, I think you’ll be headed for a healthier life.
